Voices of Hope

"A friend of mine told me to go to this program (CWJC) and I thought about it and figured it would be like any other program — a waste of time. Little did I know then, but this program would change my life forever." — Participant

"Through much prayer and faith, not to mention guidance from the Site Coordinator and teachers of CWJC — I finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel! That light was HOPE!" — Particpant

Our Purpose
Image

The purpose and mission of Christian Women's Job Corps of Tyler (CWJC Tyler) is to provide a Christian context in which women in need are equipped for life and employment and a mission context in which women help women.

Our next enrollment will be January 26th and 28th (please call 903-592-4693 for an appointment).

Christian Women’s Job Corps of Tyler (CWJC Tyler) is a free educational program for women in the Tyler community with a financial need to work. Classes are structured to include computer training, money management, boundary and goal setting, career assessment, resume’ writing, interviewing, job searching, business communications and a non-denominational Bible study. CWJC Tyler has offered services to the Tyler community for the past ten years and has served over 450 participants in the East Texas area.

Depending on the funding that is available, CWJC also provides childcare and gas assistance to eligible students during their class session. This helps eliminate two potential barriers that prevent women from being able to attend classes. In 2009, CWJC provided childcare assistance for approximately 22 children and gas assistance for approximately 30 students per session.

The services of Christian Women’s Job Corps are available to all women of the community without regard to race or religion. Applicants to the CWJC Tyler program are required to:

  • Have a desire to develop skills for employment;
  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Have a high school diploma, high school equivalency, a GED or be in the process of obtaining a GED and
  • Have transportation to get to and from class each day.

    CWJC Tyler currently has four day classes and two night classes that run each week from August through November and February through April. Some summer classes are also available.
